Conceptually derived from exploring the relationship between personal objects and memories, Ashley Ibbitson creates installations in a range of media including sculpture and video. She translates her drawings and mark making into three-dimensional materials including cardboard, papier mâché, modroc, wire, plaster and clay. Materiality and process are very important aspects of the way in which Ashley works. Ashley's artwork emphasises the manipulation of the materials she uses. Each cut, tear and score is highlighted not hidden. This raw aesthetic emphasises the physical dialogue she has with the material she is using.
